Why Should You Shop at Local Independent Businesses? Although we are not normally cheaper, we ARE BETTER for you and our economy. When you shop at local independent businesses much more of your money stays locally. Let me explain…
1. Local independent businesses make many of their purchases through other local businesses. Much of their daily office supplies, advertising, food and other necessities are purchased from other local businesses.
2. Local businesses provide jobs for local residents of the community. Their employees are local residents and they hire local contractors for repairs, maintenance, advertising, etc. This in turn provides more employment opportunities for local residents.
3. Local businesses support and donate to non-profit organizations an average of 250% more than larger national companies. If you have been involved with a charitable or youth organization you understand the value of this support.
4. Local independent businesses provide better customer service. We care about our customers. We are your neighbors and want you to come back. We understand that without you, we will not succeed! We stock products that you want not what some company wants to sell you to make a bigger profit.
5. The taxes we pay (and your sales taxes) help your own community. The taxes we pay help provide support for local police, fire and other public services and infrastructure. Small businesses normally require no infrastructure investment from the community. Have you ever seen a Wal-Mart or other superstore go in without major community tax investment (new roads, water and sewage lines, etc) let alone traffic problems afterwards?
6. Fewer infrastructures also mean less environmental impact!
